LAS VEGAS, NV (September 11, 2023) - Nevermind the city's big marketing slogan, Temecula FC is bringing back three points from Las Vegas.
Diego Valle scored twice and it was all Temecula FC needed in a 2-0 victory over Las Vegas Legends FC in the NISA Nation Southwest Region opener for both teams at Faith Luthern High School on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Goalkeeper Rodrigo Ibarra made 11 saves - including a triple save - for Temecula FC (1-0-0 overall), which finished second in the Southwest Region in the Spring Season.
Also on Saturday, Cyro Reis de Oliveira scored the only goal as FCGS Force, the reigning Southwest Region champions, opened its season with a 1-0 victory over Ocelot FC at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA.
Mihran Petrosyan netted a brace in Lions United FC's 5-3 victory over Ocelot IE FC at Glendale, CA, Sports Complex, Capo FC put on its scoring shoes in a 10-0 win over Olympiacos CA at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Lobos FC defeated Desert FC 3-1 at Hovley Soccer Field in Palm Desert, CA.
In the Texas Region opener on Saturday night, Matias Almeyda FC got off to a fast start in a 5-1 win over Texas Premier SC at the Matias Almeyda Training Academy in Houston, TX.
On Sunday, Windmill City FC handed Ocelot Stockton TLJ FC its second loss of the season, this time 1-0 in its home opener at Edison High School in Stockton, CA.
