Five NISA Nation Clubs Begin Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying This Weekend

Sep 7, 2023

LA MIRADA (September 8, 2022) – NISA Nation is proud of its member clubs participating in the qualifying rounds for the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (USOC), beginning this weekend.

The five clubs taking to the pitch in Qualifying Round One and/or Two are:

  • BattleBorn FC (Carson City, Nev.) – Back-to-back champions of the NISA Nation Pacific Region are attempting to qualify for a third consecutive tournament
  • Bay Area United FC (Oakland, Calif.) – Defeated JASA RWC on final day of NISA Nation Pacific spring season to spoil potential title and now they face off again in Round One
  • Capo FC (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) – Inaugural NISA Nation Southwest Region champ reached the Second Round vs. Orange County SC (USL-Championship) in '23
  • JASA RWC (Redwood City, Calif.) – Tussled with BattleBorn FC to the final day of the NISA Nation Pacific spring season and will try to qualify for USOC for a fourth time
  • Temecula FC (Temecula, Calif.) – Unbeaten in inaugural NISA Nation spring season campaign and attempting to qualify for a third consecutive year

"NISA Nation's strong spring season gave these clubs the competitive boost they needed to enter the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifiers,” NISA Nation Director Matt Morse said. “Each of these clubs is committed to core values and wants the experience and the pressure of playing in the U.S. Open Cup. It's a testament to their ambition and we wish each the very best of luck."

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States, dating to 1914.
