NISA Nation Announces Carlos Budyszewick as New Director of Outreach & Expansion

Jun 26, 2023

CHICAGO (June 26, 2023) – The National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) today announced Carlos Budyszewick as the new Director of Outreach and Expansion for NISA Nation. Budyszewick, a community builder and organizational leader, brings years of experience in high-level soccer environments to the full-year amateur league.

“We are excited to bring Carlos into NISA Nation to take the lead in recruiting, especially in the Southeast, Florida and Texas,” NISA Nation Director Matt Morse said. “He has the right skillset and experience to bring clubs and organizations together and will get to work immediately pursuing a NISA Nation Florida Region and Texas Region for kickoff this fall season.”

The current director of the historic Florida Gold Coast League, Budyszewick was previously president of Atletico Miami CF (UPSL). He’s currently serving as a volunteer at all Concacaf Gold Cup matches in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and previously served as a media assistant for Copa America.

“I’m thrilled that I’ve connected in a meaningful way with people who are still trying to connect rather than close off to control their own little corners,” Budyszewick said. “NISA Nation already has much of it what it takes to be successful across the country, strong affiliations and the willingness to put in the work to make it possible for growth.

“Florida is a lot of things to a lot of people, especially in soccer, but I know that there are good people here who want to do the right thing for the game,” he adds. “Matt and Dennis (Pope) and the folks at NISA are committed to working with everyone to create an open system and it’s exciting to be on board.”

A former research assistant and GIS specialist at Florida International University, Budyszewick studied human geography at University of South Florida. He graduated from Miami’s Coral Park Senior High School, where he helped the boys soccer team win its district twice and a Miami city championship.

Budyszewick replaces Brent Housteau, who departs the organization by mutual agreement. Housteau is credited for his part in the creation of the Pacific Premier League and NISA Nation’s Pacific Region.
